A month ago, Google promised to release a standalone Street View mobile app “early next month.” Today, the Internet giant has made good on that promise as the

Available for the iPhone and iPod touch, the software allows you to browse and enjoy Google’s awesome street-level photography, move and pan around by dragging your finger on the screen and even upload your own 360-degree photography to Google Maps to share your photo spheres with the world.

“Explore world landmarks, discover natural wonders, and step inside locations such as museums, arenas, restaurants, and small businesses with Google Street View,“ reads the blurb.

The biggest appeal of this app is the fact that now you, too, can create your own 360-degree images and post them privately on publicly to Google Maps. Speaking of which, Google Maps for iOS was refreshed Tuesday with support for browsing Street View imagery, the new Google logo, the ability to view the custom maps you created using Google My Maps and more.
